Equipment & Tools

Lab Automation

NEXUS provides fully integrated state-of-the-art lab automation equipment for cell-based and biochemical high-throughput screening and preparatory work. The equipment is operated by dedicated NEXUS staff members according to the individual requirements of the investigator’s research group.

High-throughput screening

The automation system for in vivo and in vitro assays is designed as an adaptable robotic system providing tools for various different types of research experiments. The flexible design enables experiments in 96- and/or 384-well format, as well as assay readouts with interchangeable readout devices. NEXUS currently offers spectroscopic readouts using a M1000 multi-plate reader (Tecan) and high-content readouts with an Acumen™ high-content cell imaging device (SPT Labtech). The acquisition of a screening microscope is planned in collaboration with ScopeM for 2020.

Liquid-handling services – Dose response curves

Dose-response curves, compound management or reformatting of DNA-based libraries (e.g. plasmids) can be prepared using an Echo 655 Omics system (LabCyte). The Echo is operated by NEXUS staff according to the investigator’s need.

General Lab Automation & Library Management

The automation system for preparatory and routine work integrates an Evo150 (Tecan) with an automated STX44 freezer (-20 °C to +20 °C; Liconic) and a Viafill (Integra) dispenser that are connected to a RT-PCR machine.
